Dr.Murat Emiroglu was born in Ankara on June 15, 1961. He completed his primary education in 1972 at Ankara Vefik Pasa Primary School, and his Middle and High School in 1979 at Ankara Anatolian High School. In the same year, he enrolled in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. During his medical education, he completed a certain part of the General Surgery Internship Program at the Surgery Department of the University of Ferrara in Italy, headed by Prof.Dr. Ippolito Donnini. He graduated in 1985. He served for a period of one year at Agri State Hospital, to where he was appointed in accordance with the “Compulsory Service Act”.

In 1986, he was appointed as a Staff Research Associate after passing the exam organized by Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In June 1992, he went to Japan, where for a period of a year he participated in studies on congenital anomalies, craniofacial surgery and microsurgery within the scope of especially cleft lip and palate cases, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Takuya Onizuka at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Showa University School of Medicine, Tokyo; on microvascular free tissue transfers, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Motohiro Nozaki at Tokyo Women’s Medical College and under the leadership of Dr. Kitaro Ohmori at Tokyo Metropolitan Police Hospital; and on plastic surgery at “Seven Bell Clinic”, the private clinic owned by Dr. Kiyotaka Watanabe. He was admitted to the membership of “International Onizuka Society” in May 1993, and then he returned to Turkey.

He presented his thesis titled “Using Streptokinase to Prevent Thrombosis Development in Microvascular Anastomoses”, and then took the examination for specialty in June 1993. Dr. Emirolu started to serve as a “Specialist” in the same department, and was appointed as a Staff Assistant Professor in January 1997. He was granted the title of University Associate Professor in November 1998 and was appointed as a Staff Associate Professor in November 1999. He served as a “Deputy Chief Physician” during years between 2002 and 2006. He was appointed as the head of the “Breast Reconstruction Unit” founded in November 2003 within the structure of Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Emiroglu was appointed as a Staff “Professor” in 2004.
