Blepharoplasty is a procedure that involves the removal of excess skin, muscle and fat tissues from the upper and lower eyelids or reshaping these tissues. When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, blepharoplasty poses almost no complication risk.
Surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia, but general anesthesia can be chosen if the patient wants.
Blepharoplasty may take up to one to three hours, depending on the region to be operated. Since incisions to be made during surgery will be in natural lines, the surgery is not likely to leave any scar.
Usually there is no need to apply bandage after surgery. Cold compresses can be applied with intent to reduce swelling. Temporary bruising may appear around the eyes, but they disappear within one to two weeks. The sutures are removed after a certain period of time, no later than one week.
After two to three days after surgery, you can easily watch television and read books. If you use contact lenses, you must not use them for two weeks after surgery.
